Hi, this is Dean Mitchum and I want to talk to you about taking advantage of a new era. My wife, Lisa, recently at one of our conferences, had a vision in between the morning session and the afternoon session when you’re totally wiped out, and you don’t know whether you’re coming or going. But she had a vision and she saw the words new era across a huge banner.

Bishop has been talking to us about the second wind of the prophetic, the next wave of the prophetic. He mentions a new era. What we have to do, is we have to be willing to recognize a new era in order to take advantage of the new era.

In Exodus, chapter 12, verse one and two, this is what it says. It says, “Now, theLord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying ‘This month shall be your beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.'”

What we need to understand is the calendar doesn’t establish the new era, God does. When God speaks to us and it’s a new era, it’s time for us to recognize it’s a new era. And that’s what he said to them. “This month shall be the beginning of the new year for you.”

First of all, we have to receive the new era and accept and walk in that. God has spoke to Bishop, he spoke through my wife, the new era, the vision, and we’re going to take ahold of it and I believe you can take ahold of that new vision, too.

Secondly, you have to believe the new vision. Now, in Luke, chapter four, it talks to us about how Jesus read the Scripture to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, which was a custom for many people to do, even Jesus custom go and take his turn to read. He began to say to them after he was finished, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Jesus declared a new era, that that Scripture had been fulfilled.

So, for us to take advantage of new era, we have to believe it’s a new era. So we receive the new era from God, we believe the new era when we speak it, and then we have to declare there’s a new era. Because new eras come along to change things.

Most of you in the United States recognize July 4th, 1776. There was a declaration of independence that we use in our history that caused a new era to come forth. So you’ve got to be willing to stand up and declare there’s a new era. And release that new era in your life.

And fourthly, you need to be able to achieve a new era. January 1st, 1864, Abraham Lincoln released what we call the Emancipation Proclamation. He began to release a new era, and in that he said, “All slaves held, from henceforth and forever, are free.” That started a whole new era and then people begin to walk around and do things they couldn’t do. They were able to walk in territories they couldn’t walk before. They begin to participate in a new era.

And Booker T. Washington, as many of you know, the founder of Tuskegee, he wrote about how they needed to take advantage of the opportunities that were around them now, that were not there before.

God is saying to you, “When you recognize a new era, you need to see there are new things available to you now, that were not available before.”

First of all, you need to have new thoughts, you need to have new habits, you need to look for new tools and methods to take advantage of the new era that God has brought us to. I’m speaking to you. Many of you have felt like you’ve done the same things as Jesus did. You walked around the same synagogue, or you walk around the same church building, doing what was your custom.

But God said, “Today is a new day.” God said, “This is a new year.” We are declaring and achieving something new.

Lastly, as you need to say, when it’s a new era, you need to take on the identity of who you are. Booker T. Said when he first went to school, the other kids were given full names. All he had was a first name, and his name was Booker. He said before they called his name, he had to have a name. And he said, “So when they called me,” he said, “Booker Washington.” He said, “I said that as if I’d had that name all my life.”

God is saying to you, your calling has come alive. You’re stepping into a calling and authority of a new era that’s been a part of you all your life.

You’re going to receive the era, you’re going to believe the era, you’re going to declare the era, and you’re going to achieve and walk out this era by taking advantage of the opportunities that are now available to you.
